Frequently Asked Questions
How long is the course?
Our SQL mini-course is taught over 36h separated across 4 weeks (9h per week) in a part-time format, with classes on Wednesdays (18:30-21:30h GMT +1) and Saturdays (9h-15h GMT +1).
Can I do the course while working a full-time job?
If you're working full-time or part-time, this 4 week course is perfect for you! We've designed it with a full-time work schedule in mind, so class sessions are held in the evenings and weekends. You should expect to spend only roughly 9 hours a week on the program, making it possible to complete while working. We also encourage you to spend time socializing with your fellow classmates - they'll become a great professional network for you.
Do I need a background in programming or Computer Science?
No - We don't require any prerequisites. If you've already studied Computer Science, you may have a head start. Students from other STEM fields such as engineering and science also find they have transferable skills. But our curriculum starts with preparation in the basics of Computer Science and Web in general. So, even if SQL totally new for you, you'll start the bootcamp with the skills you need.
What will I learn?
A lot! You'll learn how to write advanced SQL queries from scratch, to fetch, interact and manipulate Data. For more information on the specific skills and tools you'll learn to use, take a look at the curriculum section.
Will I get to do any hands-on projects?
Absolutely! We practice a lot of learning by doing. Each module includes projects in which you will use your new skills, with the guidance of our instructors. In our final module, you'll build a complete SQL application. By the end of the program, you'll feel confident using your new skills to solve challenges.
What jobs will the SQL program prepare me for?
SQL is the most in-demand skill among all jobs in data, appearing in 42.7% of all job postings. Knowing SQL is a fundamental skill required to be a good Software Engineer. Furthermore, Software Engineers with SQL knowledge are more likely to get paid more than their peers that do not have any SQL know-how. Most, if not all, Software Engineering roles require SQL skills. Our modern, well throughout, program is here to deliver on your expectations, the skills you will acquire will qualify you for a multitude of job positions such as Database Administrator (DBA), Developer, Data Scientist or BI Administrator.
What's the class size?
We aim for a class size of 10-15 students. We think this is a perfect size to foster great conversation and collaboration, while allowing for plenty of individual attention. Our instructors spend a lot of time with students, and are always available for questions.
Is the SQL mini-bootcamp online or in person?
At the moment all our programs are taught remotely.
What language will the program be taught in?
Our programs are taught in English and... coding languages! We welcome speakers of other languages, but we do not offer English instruction as part of the program.
Is there any funding available?
Yes! SQL can open the door to many fantastic career paths, and we want to make this opportunity available to people from all backgrounds.
What happens if I miss a class?
To make the most out of the course, we strongly recommend you attend to the live classes so you can ask questions and participate on some group assignments. In the case you cannot make it, please let the teachers know in advance to get access to a recorded version of the session you missed.
